The Divine Feminine

The Divine Feminine is a new concept in society nowadays. So many of us had never questioned the status quo of society and accepted the role of men and women without realizing how the thirst for power of a few men, centuries ago, changed the course of society by demonizing the feminine. For millennia, society has accepted this pattern where force and fear rule our lives while kindness and love are second-guessed and portrayed as weaknesses. It is astonishing to see this revelation of how this patriarchal society, whether we like it or not, has shaped our interactions with the world and diminished and destroyed our inner feminine power.

Ruled by Fear
It is my perception that men’s subjugation of women and dismissal of their natural connection with nature and the divine comes from deeply rooted insecurity and fear of being weak or “less than.” Our intuition, our capacity to give and nurture life, our compassionate nature, our will to keep the balance between the Universe and mankind, and our inner power were completely erased from us out of fear, out of force. It is human nature to be scared of things we cannot explain; In the male psyche, if it cannot be seen or proven rationally, then it must be suppressed. Clear examples of how this fear dominated are the Inquisition period and the witch trials and the burnings. The blood of women was sacrificed by small-minded men who could not allow their followers to believe that there was another way to interact with the Universe, with God.

The old is still running the new
Even nowadays, you can hear most monotheistic religions condemn women who decide to step into their intuition, who challenge the system, and decide to follow their nature and connection with the Universe. This patriarchal structure has given a “sense of security” to the world so it does not burn into flames. And with this, it has led us, women, to surrender our Divine power to men to maintain the balance in the world because otherwise, men would create a war just to demonstrate their power over women, as they have done ever since they discovered that fear was their power.
Part of an extract the New York Times published in 2000 from Cynthia Eller’s book “The Myth of Matriarchal Prehistory” has given me the argument for my statement above: “These “matriarchies”—often called by other names—were not crude reversals of patriarchal power, but models of peace, plenty, harmony with nature, and, significantly, sex egalitarianism” (1). The fact that women have always strived for balance and equilibrium can lead to thinking that they surrendered to protect the Universe as it is.
It is time to awaken our collective awareness and our inner power, to show the world that there is a different alternative to fear. It is time to find a true balance between our masculine and our feminine. The Universe was created with these two opposites, not to compete and destroy each other but to find the equilibrium needed to succeed and grow while we are on this planet. We all need to embrace our masculine side and our feminine side because they are both part of our minds, bodies, and souls, and through them is how we reach our higher purpose.

Reclaiming our Divine Feminine Power
Overwriting the programming with which we were raised is a rough path to take; we are fighting years of indoctrination, but once we start, once we take the first step, there is no turning back. I consider women to be brave and courageous, and once we put our efforts into something, we usually succeed. Our Divine Feminine is always trying to guide us, we are the ones who decide if we listen to it or not. But once we are aware of its existence, we have no option but to tune into it and let it guide the path.
We, as women, are powerful instruments for change. I am convinced that it is through us that the most needed balance in this world will materialize. We have been afraid for so long to tune into what we really are, into our inner power, but I also sense that the collective consciousness is rising and that once enough of us awaken and break chains from the patriarchal slavery, we will bring the much-needed balance into the world.

Three Ways to Increase Your Divine Feminine
It is important to increase our Divine Feminine energy to honor who we truly are, promote the balance of masculine and feminine energy in the world, and bring peace and joy. These three (3) simple ways will shift your energy toward a positive and more fulfilling lifestyle:
- Meditation and Mindfulness: Through meditation and mindfulness practices, we connect with our essence and allow ourselves to listen to our intuition, to our inner-guide. Take 10 minutes a day, or more if it is your desire, to be still in silence and meditate on the image of one powerful Goddess, could be Kuan Yin, Green Tara, Mother Mary, or Mary Magdalene; ask for their wisdom and feel their love energy surrounding you.
- Nurture your body: Move your body every day, dance, practice yoga, walk, do free-movement, or do anything that allows you to connect with this amazing vehicle that was given to us to experience life at its fullest.
- Connect with nature: Spending time in nature will keep you grounded and connected with the power of nurturing and abundance, Mother Earth provides, this is the essence of the feminine energy.
