The Power of 21 — New Habits in the Making

Our lives are ruled by cycles: Humans and most mammals operate on the circadian rhythm, our sleep/wake cycle. The ocean tides are affected by the moon cycles, which also affect our bodies, as their composition is 70% water. The four seasons are cycles that reflect the positioning of the Sun as the Earth makes its cycle around it. We go through growth cycles, life cycles, productive cycles, and biorhythms, which measure our overall energy levels.

The Energy of “21”
In many spiritual traditions, the number 21 is considered to be aligned with the transformation and integration of new energies. As 21 comprises three full weeks, it is a cycle that fully supports change on every level: Mind, Body, and Spirit. The first week of the cycle has to do more with physical energy shifts; the second week focuses more on the mental and physical dimensions; and the final week leads to spiritual transformation and adjustment.
The adage, therefore, “21 Days to make a habit, 21 Days to break a habit,” is based on a metaphysical fact. The power of 21 brings it all together, provided you know how to use the 21-day cycle to your full advantage.
How it works:
My expertise is in understanding the dynamics of the subconscious mind and knowing how to communicate with the part of your mind that determines your behavior. Your subconscious mind has a language all its own, and over the years, I’ve become more fluent and therefore, more adept at unleashing more of its potential by the power of suggestion. In my book, “Your Mind: The Owner’s Manual”, I revealed the 21-day secret, stating that it’s not what you do or don’t do for 21 days, but rather, how that information is communicated to your subconscious mind.
In other words, you need to tell your subconscious what you want it to do in order to get it to cooperate, in its vernacular, and according to the rules of suggestion.
Why New Year’s Resolutions Don’t Work
The reason you might have failed at most of your New Year’s resolutions and frequent attempts to change is that the message probably did not get through. Because you were never taught how to communicate in this unique vernacular of the subconscious — it is really quite different from the dialect of your everyday consciousness
Will power is not enough to make or break a habit, this is only a minor player in your overall mind dynamics. Your subconscious mind rules your actions (and your beliefs, your attitudes, your thoughts, and your feelings!); therefore, this is the ally that must be enlisted in order to have any permanent change.

How to Talk to Your Subconscious Mind
Seven (7) main rules need to be applied when talking to your subconscious mind to get it on board with your goals. These are included in my book “Your Mind: The Owner’s Manual”:
- Be positive
- Use the present tense
- Be specific and detailed
- Avoid perfectionism
- Be repetitive
- Talk about action, not ability
- Be creative and imaginative
Imagine as if you are talking to a well-educated 5-year-old. That’s how your subconscious mind registers information. Once you have created suggestions that meet these rules and you use them constantly, your subconscious mind will respond, and your life will change in positive ways.
Start Small
When you look to make changes in your life, start small. Look for small habits, as it will be easier for you, and this will prepare the ground for bigger and more profound changes. The easier you start, the further you will get in this process. Take time and look for one small change that will improve your life, go with that one, and then look for the next small one. Before you realize it, your life will undergo a dramatic change by focusing on only one small change at a time.

Trust the Power of 21, and see the results by yourself! It’s the small changes that create the bigger impact in our lives.
