Editing a Footer or Header in a Microsoft Word Document

The video demonstrates how to edit a header or footer in a Microsoft Word Document. This only works for newer versions of Word.

There are two ways to edit the footer:

  1. Double click in the footer area OR
  2. Go to Insert > Footer > Edit Footer

When the footer is in edit mode, the text in the footer will get darker and a dashed line will appear above it along with a textbox that says “Footer”. You can now click on the footer text and edit it.

The same process applies to headers, just substitute “header” for “footer” in the directions above.
